TODAY’S RATES & HOUSING NEWS

Mortgage Interest Rates stayed the
same to slightly higher depending
on the product with the Mortgage
Backed Security (MBS) market
trading down -19 bps over the past
7 days. The 10 Year Treasury
currently sits at 4.644%.

Interest Rate movement was
relatively quiet in the week of New
Years. The big market mover this
week is December’s BLS Jobs
Report coming out on Friday,
January 10^th.

The expectation is for job creation
to come in at 160,000 with the
Unemployment Rate to remain
at 4.2%.

If job creation is lower, interest
rates will typically go down.
If the unemployment rate goes
up, rates will typically go down.

If job creation is higher, interest
rates will typically go up. If the
unemployment rate goes down,
rates will typically go up.
